A bit confused about Mexican / Spanish food?

Me and my new girlfriend from Spain wanted to go out to eat and we saw a restaurant advertised as spanish food. All excited my girfried who is spanish told me she wanted to go. So we drove like 30 minutes to this restaurant. Upon entering the place looked like a typical Mexican restaurant. We read the menus and my girlfriend got really pist off. We ended up eating there but there was no spanish food at all. Not even tapas, or paella, or embutido of any kind. We spoke with the manager, he was an American and very confused as we told him he had no Spanish food.

Anyway, I just thought I shared this.
I just like say that I love Mexican food. But I wish they would stop advertising it as spanish food because it’s really wrong. You spent your time driving to the place and you feel cheated.
culoporm, yes, I’ve been to Mexico, the food there is amazing. Lobster, steaks, the salsas, really amazing food. You can’t compare it to the Mexican food in the States. I’ve also been to Spain and it’s a totally different kitchen. I’ve also been to Italy and the food in Italy is nothing like the Olive Garden. Totally different and much much better. Anyway, I think all the restaurants in the USA are americanized. Even if it’s Italian food or Mexican food, it is totally Americanized versions of it. And Im sorry but American food does not have class. It’s hard to find a good restaurant here Unless you want to spend 100 dollars a plate.
